Head and Shoulders above the rest
Michael Owen was again a match winner on Saturday with the only goal in Newcastle’s 1-0 home win over Newcastle and yet again the goal came from the head of one of Europe’s smallest strikers.
Owen has now scored 7 of his last 12 goals with his head with the innate ability to drift into space and despite his lack of height find the net with his head and over the last two seasons has scored 59% of his goals this way
Last season in the Premier League Owen scored the highest % of goals with his head than any other player who got into double figures, some 9 % above Villa’s Norwegian giant John Carew
