Bent running out of steam!
Sunderland’s Darren Bent is the only player in Europe’s top five leagues who has scored more goals in the first half than the second of the 15 players in double figures so far this season.
80% of his goals have come in the opening 45 minutes of Premier League matches and if you are looking for a first goal scorer he is your man as all eight times he has got the first goal of the match.
Compare this with one of the men he is vying with for a World Cup spot in the summer, Jemain Defoe. The Spurs front man has scored 11 of his 13 goals in the second half so maybe England manager Fabio Capello should start with Bent and replace him at half time with Defoe!
