English Players dominating Premier League leading scorers
With the World Cup on the horizon England manager Fabio Capello will be pleased that there are five English players in the top ten leading scorers in the Premier League this season.
Leading the way is Spurs Jemain Defoe with 13 goals one more than Wayne Rooney, who is the obvious starter up front for England in the World Cup. Three other players vying for Capello’s eye are Sunderland’s Darren Bent, Villa’s Gabriel Agbonlahor and West Ham’s Carlton Cole.
Off the pace at the moment are Peter Crouch with just four Premier League goals and Emile Heskey with just two goals, the same as Michael Owen, as the battle for World Cup places looks to intensify in the New Year.
