Bowyer having 'Indian Summer'

Bowyer having Indian Summer

Birmingham City midfielder Lee Bowyer has already notched five Premier League goals as we approach the half way mark of the season, easily his best return since his Leeds United days some eight seasons ago. When at Elland Road Bowyer was a regular on the scoresheet and twice got to nine goals in a season whilst in his last season at Leeds United he returned five goals in 24 starts.

Bowyer has now scored 53 Premier League goals in 349 matches including 317 starts since making his debut for Leeds United back in the 1996/97 season and has played for West Ham and Newcastle before joining the St Andrews club.

Since then his best season was his last at Upton Park where he scored four times for the Hammers in 15 matches.

He also seems to be mellowing with just one yellow card this season in 16 starts which is some way off his worst season for yellow cards. Back in the 1999/00 season he picked up 13 yellow cards in 31 matches
